Day by Day

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel of choice. Early arrivals can opt for optional excursions at Uganda Wildlife Education center, Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, and Reptile Village Uganda.

Embark on a morning game drive in search of herds of buffaloes and elephants, Rothschild Giraffes, leopards, lions, Jackson’s hartebeest, bushbucks, Uganda kob, waterbucks, warthogs, and other wildlife. After lunch, embark on a launch trip to the base of the Falls. Cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles, bathing buffalo, and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfall. The list includes the Shoebill Stork, the Goliath Heron – the largest heron in the world – and pairs of elegant Grey Crowned Cranes - Uganda’s national bird. Also seen along the banks of the Nile are the Blue-headed Coucal, Swamp Flycatcher, Squacco Heron, African Jacana, Sandpipers, Denham’s Bustard, Abyssinian Ground-Hornbill, Black-billed Barbet, Black-headed Gonolek, Eastern Grey Plantain-eater, We then hike to the top of the falls and return back to lodge.

We head to Kibale forest in western Uganda for the ultimate chimpanzee trekking experience. Kibale forest is known as the primate capital of the world. Expect to see other primates like the black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkey, grey-cheeked mangabey, l’Hoest’s and blue monkeys, and olive baboons

After an early breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to the starting point where you will receive a briefing from the ranger guide concerning chimpanzee trekking. You will then be divided into groups and each given a ranger guide to take you on the chimpanzee trekking in the forest.

In the afternoon, you can choose an of these optional activities: birding the Bigodi swamp walk or take a walk in the Bigodi community and interact with the locals. Get a coffee experience, banana beer-making making experience, basketry, and so much more.

After breakfast, we head to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through the Crater lakes region (depending on road conditions) and enjoying views of the mystical Rwenzori mountain ranges. The journey from Kibale national park to Queen Elizabeth national park is short and therefore you will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge.

After lunch, have a relaxed afternoon looking forward to the next day’s activities or have a short evening game drive.

Enjoy your early morning breakfast and after meeting your guide who will drive you around the park. Pass via the Kasenyi trail where you will be in a position to observe game like warthogs, waterbucks, zebras, elephants, lions together will several species of birds. Head back to your lodge or hotel for lunch and relax before traveling back for the afternoon boat ride along the Kazinga Channel. Look out for Elephants, buffalos, hippos, and Nile crocodiles crammed at the banks, birds such as fish eagles, marabou storks, weaver birds, and lots of water birds. We hope you didn’t forget the pair of binoculars back at home. Afterward, we take a leisurely game drive en route to your lodge or hotel for dinner.

Today we leave for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – the home to half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The Bwindi impenetrable forest is also UNESCO World Heritage Site hosting numerous tree species, birdlife, primates, mammals, insects, etc. You will drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park and on a lucky day, you might notice the tree-climbing lions.  Please note that if we tracking Gorillas in Nkuringo or Rushaga, a different route will be used.

After breakfast, in the company of an experienced park ranger you will be tracking the whereabouts of one of the nine habituated family groups who live in the park. Depending on the location of the gorillas on any given day the walk can take anything from 2 to 7 hours. Once the family of gorillas has been located, settle in to your surroundings and enjoy the hour you have to quietly observe these fascinating primates whose habits and mannerisms remind us so much of our own. It is a real hiking and being physically fit is recommended.
